Welcome to The Dreaming Room
Where your ideas become blueprints, and those blueprints become movements, nonprofits or businesses.
01
You are Going to New Place.
It won’t look like the places you’ve been before. You don’t need to bring anything with you, just yourself. What you need for the new place is already in you, inscribed on the tablet of your heart, soul and mind. When you start out, it will feel unfamiliar, but as you go, you will see fragments of where you’ve been before and you will know that you are revisiting those places to get healed. The time is being redeemed, what has been lost is being restored. Notice the turns, stop and observe the map when you need to, cross over into new spaces and come back often to refuel.
02
What Gets Measured, Gets Managed.
You have to measure to manage. Without measurement, you don’t know where you are. You can’t see your place on the “map”. Step out of the game long enough to figure out what you need to measure, and then lean into that. Managing from a higher view will give you what you need to see clearly. Management of the right measurables will shape how you spend your time and resources. You will stay on track when you measure to manage.
03
Swim Upstream
Watch for ways to swim upstream. At the right time, swimming against the current will be effortless, but you have to pay attention to the timing. When you swim upstream, you create new ways to get where you’re going. Those new ways open up doors that were previously locked.
04
The Dreaming Room
The dreaming room is where our ideas become blueprints, and those blueprints become movements, nonprofits, or businesses. It sounds great right? But, it’s hard to get there. It’s hard to shake off years of doubt, unbelief, skepticism, and criticism and step into “the dreaming room”. If you can get there, it’s where new things are purposefully built. The impact can be great, and that’s why it’s worth the fight.
05
Against the Grain
Banish assumptions and judgments, put aside your defaults, and set the stage for thinking a different way. No conforming here, just a new way to think freely without the constraints of what you’ve previously been taught. When you move into this new way of thought, you begin to see all of the things that have previously shaped your thoughts and decide which ones you want to keep, adjust or throw out.
Welcome to a new way of thinking, against the grain.
06
Focus
Maintaining focus is a key component of building or growing new things. Without it, we become distracted, sidetracked or off course. Even a small degree off course can impact our outcome. When we’re able to consistently maintain focus, we stay aligned with our vision and effectively execute our mission.
07
Count the Cost
Every step of growth comes with a cost. A “this” or “that”, an “and” “or”. The tradeoffs are often worth the sacrifice, but they must be realized and measured carefully. This can help us set the course with intention and realize that sometimes what we think might be a loss is really a gain.
08
The Slingshot
When we’re entering into new territory, it can be an exciting time. We can be tempted to jump ahead and roll things out before they’re actually ready. When we don’t do that, we get to pick up our slingshot, put the stone in, pull back, and then and only then, when the timing is right, we launch it. And because of that, we hit the target.
